A rule stating that students with overdue lunch accounts couldn't participate in "Ice Cream Friday" sparked an icy response online. The critics' outrage got King's attention, compelling her to step into the fray. After praying for guidance, she reached out to the school, offering to pay the full debt amount. Title: The Girl Who Shared Kindness

By: Taylor Koelbl, Danielle Depratt Koelbl

Ages: 3-6 years

Share a little kindness! A story about a young girl who comes across a friend sitting with a sad face. After learning why the friend is sad, the girl shares kindness and gives the friend a compliment. Through the domino effect, kindness begins to flow from child to child...let's raise confident yet empathetic children one kind word at a time.

The simple storyline and illustrations allow children to focus on, and relate to, the moral-based message. The "Message in Motion" at the end of the book allows adult readers to create a discussion about kindness with their early education readers.

Be The Change

Take some time out today, or anytime this week - and brighten someone's day by doing something simple, something sweet. That can bring a smile on your face as well as the other. Wash your neighbors car, bake a pie for an elderly in your neighborhood, give a hug to everyone in your family as many times as possible, look at the mirror and smile as you count your blessings. The list can be neverending.
