Meet The Tree Tenders

How deeply does trees surrounding us have an effect on our growth? As a child living in Beirut, Abdallah Tabet had a special connection with lush green mountains. Later in a 'concrete jungle' he longed for the sight of trees and started volunteering as a “tree tender” with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. In the process, he discovered how caring for trees gives people an opportunity to make friends, spend time outside and feel more connected to their communities.

More than 6,500 volunteers graduated from the eight-hour Tree Tender training that he was a part of and they collectively planted more than 30,000 trees. Take a look at this inspiring story which also offers this important reminder: “It’s hard to save the rainforest, but you can save your community, which is part of your city and part of your world.” [Read More]
