I recently watched a movie "Craigslist Joe" - a real life experiment by a 20 something guy who decided to give up all his possessions and living off the generosity of strangers and the goodwill of people for a period of 30 days. An inspiring story. A real life example of a shift from a money based economy/society to a trust based one.
