Thank you, all, for the Forest Call last weekend. I felt honored to speak with such wonderful people. So many good ideas to find a sense of our own presence in our busy lives--I believe one of you called them strategies--and such deep wishes to serve! Here's a story from this skeptical journalist who still hesitates to think it's really true that humans (especially those in New York City) are naturally good:
This afternoon I gave an elderly friend in the hospital my last pocket money ($13) so he could buy himself some soft drinks, and on the way home saw that the pet store had only one box of pet-grass left, just what my cat, Gatsby, needed. I went in, thinking to beg the salesman to let me put the $5 it cost on my credit card, but when I told him how I'd just given away the last of my pocket cash to a friend in the hospital, he handed me the box and said it was free!
