The Mindful Technology Challenge just finished last week with just under 4000 participants! There were so many beautiful reflections from folks all over the world who participated in the challenge. Here are a few that stood out! Enjoy!
“I no longer feel nervous about not having my phone with me all the time. I spent many days away from it for hours on end. Thank you for this idea.”
“I am not a true techy person. I only use my cell phone for calling and I limit my time on Facebook or e-mail. Soooo I loved this. I saved every one and I sent the invitation to everyone I had friended on Facebook so I hope more people took the challenge. Your challenge was amazing and I loved every day of it. Thank you--I hated to see it end.”
“As a small, subsistence level farmer, I felt the computer a bigger influence on my life than it apparently was. this challenge affirmed my trajectory toward less and less to do with this albatross. I appreciate this affirmation, thank you.”
“I found all the suggestions extremely helpful and practical to implement. In addition, it gave me ideas for helping others who are more hooked on technology. Thank you very much to the organizers. I think this was well though out and realistic. Like it or not, you can't completely ignore technology and stick your head in the sand. The challenge is valuable because it helps you live with technology much more comfortably and encourages you to be in the driver seat, not the other way around.”
“I enjoyed the daily challenges - on one hand, they helped me to think more deeply about things I had not looked at before and on the other, they opened my eyes to see more clearly how much I had already incorporated in my life.”
“This challenge has been a wonderful consciousness-raiser. Now I will mind my posture, do something kind at least once a week--with or without technology! and continue limiting my screen time through regular pruning of priorities. The last is the toughest for me but goes to the heart of the challenge. It helped to discover that others wrestle with this too---and to receive support and encouragement from the Kindspring network.”
“All of the tech boundaries suggested in this challenge have been worthy of exploration. At this time, the three shifts that I wish to carry forward: eating without distraction of tech devices / taking breaks from Facebook / and walking walking walking in the company of sunshine wind and beauty. I also wish to say Thank You to the creators of this program for their very creative and poetic writings each day / to the community members for their own diverse offerings / and to those who acknowledged my views and efforts... your smiles, comments, and Karmabucks (!) made a difference in my days. This quote by Ram Dass -appearing on my FB page this morning- says it well... We're all just walking each other home.” Warmest wishes to all in this journey : )”
“Thank you Kindspring for this21 day challenge! I made and kept several commitments over this time that I plan to continue with. One is having one hour of computer time followed by two hours off in order to do other activities; the second is maintaining device free time with family and friends unless of course we are all watching a program or movie together; and the third is continue being mindful in all of my activities of the real world around all of us, especially nature but also in listening to others carefully. Thanks everyone for such a wonderful experience. I have so loved hearing your thoughts and feelings over this past 21 days that I will miss it for sure!
