I was listening to NPR this evening and joined a conversation between Phil Bronstein and Peter Coyote, whom has had a fascinating life. A statement that Peter made has stuck with me: We each need to be alert to the fact that we could be a Hitler or a Dali Lama. My understanding is that if we fail to recognize this, nothing good will come. He talked of his leaving Hollywood, but did not judge those that remain. And now, he's being priced out of Mill Valley and is moving to Sebastopol. Another line I read by him is, "Once you realize that it's not your responsibility to keep yourself alive -- the universe is doing that for you -- it takes a big weight off your shoulders," he says. "You settle down into your intuition, and life gets a lot simpler." Yes, in the end, everything is in the hands of the universe. Surrender to the Universe, I suppose, would be appropriate:). His second memoir just came out, but I suppose I should read his first one first.
