The ripples continue at Mulberry School PLANTING SEEDS OF KINDNESS, reaching out to our Los Gatos community...

Recently, our school's Gardening and Cooking Teacher, Debi Sabo, along with Lisa and Amy’s First and Second graders, created nature bouquets of kindness to take to the residents at the senior residence down the street.

The students created nature bouquets using plants from our school garden, arranging them in recycled cardboard formed vases, filled with love, and presented them to their new friends. The students enjoyed lively conversation, stories with lots of smiles. The residents told their life stories and one woman sweetly kissed a child’s cheek to say thank you. A 97-year old woman told the story of how she arrived to the US from Italy when she was only seven years old. Her father was a baker. As she talked about her experience, her face became so alive and she couldn’t stop smiling as she shared her life. A retired sheriff talked about his many years of service here in Los Gatos. It was such a kind, joyful and beautiful experience for all.

After the visit, Lisa, Mulberry’s second grade teacher, said that her students felt like they "really made a difference in their day.” The students are planning to continue getting to know and visiting their new friends at the Senior Residence as well as have plans to invite them to our Friday Sing at our school.

The flower bouquets were absolutely beautiful and your students just adorable. My residents had a very joyful time and look forward to your next visit”
