About two dozen of us have been evaluating essays as part of a "Kindness Jury" for a youth essay contest on the theme: Creating a Society Full of Kindness.

While reading, I was inspired by some of these quotes that different youth cited in their essays and couldn't help but share the inspiration!

“We need ‘strength’ while doing the possible, but we need faith while doing the impossible.” -- Daleep Thakur

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” --  Desmond Tutu

“The plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it.” -- David W. Orr

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see.”  -- Mark Twain.

“Unconditional love flows through specific channels of respect, integrity, purpose, meaning, value, response-ability, forgiveness, kindness, and compassion — and these form the foundation of our new, naturally ethical lives,” -- Loch Kelly.

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow." -- Einstein

“A hand that wipes your tears is better than the million hands that clap for your success.”

"Soft nature of a person does not mean weakness; remember nothing is softer than water, but its force can break the strongest of rocks."

“Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough”. -- President Franklin D. Roosevelt

“If you have never tried, how will you ever know if there is any chance.” -- Jack M.A

“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone” -- Ronald Reagan.

“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.”

“Do things for people, not because of who they are or what they do in return.” -- Harold S. Kushner

“Three things in human life are important; the first thing is to be kind, the second thing is to be kind, and the third thing is to be kind” -- Harry James.
