On The Syria-Jordan Border

About a week ago, I wrote a post describing the convergence of details that brought me to Jordan. Last night, I received more evidence of God's invisible possibilities - the possibilities that are always at play whether we see them or not.

I never imagined I'd someday sing in a concert, in Jordan, 10 miles from the Syrian border, sharing the stage with brother Nimesh Nimo Patel. I never imagined that I'd someday use all of the good vocal training I received from Wm Beck to serve in this way. I never imagined that the stage presence I learned from my Church congregation would support me as it did last night.

I sang back up for a couple of Nimo's songs; but I also got to sing a solo. I chose "The Circle Game," by Joni Mitchell and dedicated it to my friend Debbie, who died suddenly almost two years ago. Debbie and I met in North Carolina when I was 19. We listened to Joni songs together, perhaps as a coping strategy for the rigors of crazy nursing school.

Debbie's husband Jeff Frank and I are good friends as well. He gave me a gift before I left and said, "this is from Debbie and me." What an honor to bring their support into the service of nostalgia...beauty... joy... and the message of "The Circle Game" - that life is precious. So precious. More precious than we can possibly know.
