A Simple Cup of Chai

This is the tea stall in Kanpur, India, where KMBhai’s (a KindSpring and Service Space member) initiative of helping people receive what they are entitled to, under the RTI (Right to Information) Act, all began.

What an honor to meet the brave tea stall owner, even got him to autograph one of the clay cups as a remembrance! We learned more about how KMBhai turned his own interaction with obtaining justice into an avenue for everyday people to do the same.

After being honored with marigold and rose garlands by a few boys of KindWings (formerly known as the Mini-Library, who btw are growing up into such fine, educated young men!), we sat down in the shade and enjoyed a cup of chai. (Which MisterM learned how to make with great expertise, I must say!)

There, in the moment, I decided to informally interview KMBhai about how his RTI work started and how it has evolved. Please excuse the background road noise, which is everywhere! (The traffic cannot be accurately described, you must experience it firsthand to appreciate :))).

Amazing how when we take something as simple as a cup of chai and combine it with a compassionate connection for justice, what wonderful waves are created!

Thank you, dear KMBhai, for taking the initiative to move forward in a positive direction with such an important undertaking. Thank you to all the brave supporters and volunteers. And thank you, my kind friends, for your encouragement and time.

Over 8,000 people to date have been helped with the RTI Tea Stalls!

That’s some tea party! Don’t you think?

And it all began and continues with a simple cup of chai.
