My father passed away just before Christmas, and I was away with family.  He was aware and open-hearted until his death.  I called him the night before he died and he suddenly asked, "Is there anything you need to say to me, Tracy?"  I told him there was nothing to say except "I love you."  He agreed and said "I love you, too."  Words to live by.
