Joy Of Giving At The ATM

Yesterday I arrived breathless at two minutes to five at the bank, along with an attractive young black girl. The manager wouldn't let us in although we begged and pointed to the time. I had a bank card so finally took some money out, but the young woman didn't and was desperate for some cash to buy food. I tend to be suspicious of hard luck stories (been around, don't you know!). However, I've been inspired by the Daily Good website and my exchanges with some of you these last few days, and always loved the idea of Paying it Forward, so I suddenly felt free to offer her some money. Caveat: I was too cautious to offer the full $100 she had wanted to take out at the bank. I gave her $40 and my card, so she could pay me back sometime. She was overwhelmed, wrote her name down and showed me her drivers license etc. but none of that mattered to me. I glad to be there to give her what she needed, and ready to lose $40 if necessary (an unusual attitude on my part). What joy in giving, as you guys say!
