Work is usually wage slavery. The "attachment" and "desire" are to not being homeless, vulnerable to starvation, and jail. We work also for the well-being of others. Those who need us to help them avoid the aforementioned suffering. Unless one has purposely killed oneself, one is absolutely attached. If so certain of life's meaninglessness, suffering, and or perpetual crying for freedom, then one must, and will leave it behind immediately. If one is in truth unready to make that leap, then one chooses to remain alive and in bondage. This is understandable, yet let the excuses come forth from all like a flood. All reasons other than fear and the unknown are but lies, and our attachment remains, our very existence proving it beyond all doubt. Our views are our prerogative, our reasons are rightfully our own, but as long as we are here, we must not speak of ourselves as enlightened or unattached, as it is merely egotism, and fantasy. Vivekananda was no different than all the rest of them, of us. He shared eye-opening ideas freely, but he also enjoyed a lauded life, full of privilege, and was able to avoid starvation and the elements through the alms of the working and attached. He was merely a wise bum, and he too was undeniably and without question attached as well as far from pure.
