Gabrielle, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree that GNH is not perfect and nor is Bhutan (every country in the world has its share of issues and challenges). Many of the youth we actually worked with at the Camp RUF are southern Bhutanese, Lhotshampa, and it was inspiring to actually see how the camp built a safe space for all youth to connect deeply across their differences and narratives to build a better Bhutan.
Mary, I was invited by a close mutual friend of the camp co-founder to get involved and volunteer. For roughly 3 months, I supported the planning, implementation, facilitation, and post-camp activities. It's been a blast, and I may help with this year's 2015 camp as well!
