In my years as a traveller it was the Tamil stranger who warned me not to take my camera out in a dangerous area and the other Tamil stranger who berated me for abandoning him in a hotel in front of a queue of tourists buying train tickets for Kandy, Sri Lanka, that taught me both sides of trust.
