This story touched me very very deeply. Remembered my mother's time in the hospital with severe Liver Cirrhosis when she slipped into a coma. The doctors had said that her time was up and she had but a few days. I was studying abroad at the time and rushed back on hearing her condition and went straight to the hospital from the airport where my whole family was anxiously praying. As soon as I entered her hospital room, she stirred and opened her eyes and looked at me with a big smile. Needless to say, she was soon discharged and came back home to live quite contentedly for another 7 years.
