I was really touched by your story. I've just returned myself from a trip to Namdroling and I can tell you that although some progress has been made, there's much more progress needed. Over-crowding continues to be an issue at the school. There are plans to build a new building, but funding is (naturally) an issue.
Meanwhile, a group of Westerners came last year to analyze the situation at the hospital and created a report with recommendations. It seems they were not empowered to actually carry through any of the recommendations, but have access to those who might have that possibility.
Further, there is a movement afoot within the monastery to start to bring in topics that are useful for a life outside of monasticism. This is a very big step, of course, because it is not a traditional approach. Not sure about timing on this at this time.
Definitely get in touch if you are interested in more communications regarding the school and the hospital. I actually do a little volunteer work myself for Namdroling in the communications area.

Also, I believe others have worked similarly - for example I found this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PqRcOuxlEE
Thanks again for a touching article. Would love to see photos as well.
Best regards!
