You could delve on the following
- The only person you can control is yourself. Therefore, how you respond to a stimuli is up to you. An enemy can only hurt your mind not you and the enemy is only in your mind. You may want to have a look at a book "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl.
- If you know you are being hurt or offended, then you are in reality the witness of this hurt and offence. I used to find this concept very difficult to understand but the more I read and hear about it the more I am convinced. Anyone interested in learning more can listen to the following two persons (i) Swami Sarvapriyananda - he is a monk with the Ramakrishna Mission order. There is a Youtube presentation of the Swami where he quotes from a very old scripture " Drig Dhrishya Viveka". (ii) David Chalmers - in a TED Talk
I hope it helps
