To start with, your intention's first beneficiary was the tree itself! :) And I remember Zilong recently sharing about how he handles rejection on his bicycling pilgrimage -- "I used to feel bad when I would knock on a door and get a rejection. But then I realized that I didn't have the affinity, so I would start praying and offering love for everyone in that home." With that reframing, rejection became an opportunity and he would sometimes even look forward to it. :)
