I love your beautiful and inspiring personal story. And I also wonder how many homeless children are in our midst. A homeless adult asked me to buy him food yesterday. I offered him a salad and he told me he was allergic to salad. I felt uncertain of what to do next and disengaged. I work in a place where so much food gets discarded. It is catered for meetings and then there are often leftovers. THere are organizations that we are supposed to donate to but sometimes the amount is so small and no one wants to take the time to do it. If I knew where to bring the food, I could bring containers to a certain place. There is the YEAH shelter in downtown Berkeley but i don't know if they take random food all year. I will check.
