I like the part where you say, "it's part of the territory". Acceptance of generosity as basic human nature is a very difficult challenge. I remember when I met Heng Sure, soon after Tsunami happened, I mentioned to him, "there will be folks with generosity enough to deal with the immediate- it's the rehab of children and families that worries me." It's been a couple of years and I have heard a few stories where generosity did not happen and individual courage dominated the scene with results benefiting a few.
