November 2018 - London Gatherings

This month, we're excited to welcome you to two film screenings with very special filmmakers from the ServiceSpace family in California, Anne and Rajesh. Their labour of love documentary, Teach Me to Be WILD, shares the inspiring journeys of hurt children who have been healed through friendships with wild animal teachers -- details of the two London screenings are included below. For those who missed Nimo's visit or would like to check out the photos from three Empty Hands Music gatherings last month, you may enjoy the collective blog shared by the event hosts: Nimo in London: A Heart-Filling Week!

Awakin Circles: Pimlico, Mill Hill

Each month, you're invited to join Awakin Circles at locations around London, where we meditate for the first hour, engage in a circle of sharing based on a reading, and conclude with a home-cooked vegetarian dinner together.

  • Thurs, Nov 15th at 7:15pm (Pimlico, Central London) ** Special Awakin Movie Circle - Info/RSVP **
  • Weds, Nov 28th at 7pm (Mill Hill, North London)
To RSVP, visit Awakin London and use the drop-down box in the top right corner to select a date/location.

** Update: Harrow and Museum of Happiness Awakin Circles will resume from December.

Awakin Movie Circle & Community Film Screening (Nov 15/16)

We are delighted to host our very first Awakin Movie Circle in London as we welcome two dear friends from the ServiceSpace family in California to share their incredibly inspiring labour-of-love documentary, Teach Me to Be WILD! En route to a film festival in Totnes, home of Schumacher College, we're grateful that Anne and Rajesh will be in London for a couple of film screenings. Watch the film trailer for a sneak peak -- when Ani and Trishna saw the first cut of this film a couple of years ago, we were moved to tears and deeply inspired by the transformation in the children's journeys and blown away by the beauty of this film!

Join us at one of the events below with Anne and Rajesh, who will also share about the making of the film:
  • Awakin Movie Circle (Pimlico) - Thursday, November 15th (7:15-9:45pm): Join us for this first ever Awakin Movie Circle, where we plan to gather after dinner to watch the documentary, hear from the film makers' journeys, have a circle of sharing reflections with all guests on themes from the movie and conclude with tea and light refreshments. [More info & RSVP]
  • Community Screening (Shoreditch) - Friday, November 16th (6:30-9:30pm): You're invited to the Museum of Happiness's new venue to join us for a community film screening and dialogue / Q & A with the film makers followed by a vegetarian pot luck. [More info & RSVP]

Inspiration from Friends
  • As you may have heard, our lovely friends at the Museum of Happiness have moved to 42 Acres in Shoreditch, so stay tuned for more gatherings soon, including the above film screening and their first event in the new space - a Friday mindfulness circle on Nov 2nd, both of which are offered as a gift.
  • We met Richard at an Awakin Circle recently and were moved to learn about his labour-of-love project, Connected By Humanity! They are hosting their next event on Nov 10th and this month's theme is bereavement, where the community will come together to share stories and celebrate the lives of loved ones they've lost. Tickets are gifted and donations are welcomed if you feel moved to contribute.

We look forward to seeing you again at an upcoming Awakin Circle and film screening in November!

With love and gratitude,

Trishna, Ani, Mita, Vicky and Shamash
