“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” -- Angela Schwindt
We are so excited to be planting seeds to come together with families for the first ever Kindful Kids Circle hosted by the London ServiceSpace community! One of our first "family-oriented" experiments in ServiceSpace started as a newsletter back in 2011 and more recently has been rippling into offline community gatherings like Awakin Kids Circles in CA and in Surat, Mindful Parenting Calls, Kindful Kids events and Conscious Mama's Circles! It's been so beautiful to watch this all unfold and I've been quietly holding onto an intention in my heart to pay forward this love and inspiration to families here in London for the past couple of years.
My daughters are always wondering why they can't come to a retreat or stay up late at night for Awakin Circles, so it's a joy to be hosting Kindful Kids Circles for all the children, like mine, who might be wishing they could join their parents in being the change they wish to see in the world! Kindful is derived from the words 'kind' + 'mindful' and the intention of these circles is to explore how families can cultivate the values we all hold dearly including kindness, compassion, generosity, empathy, mindfulness and more. We look forward to co-creating each Kindful Kids Circle together, tapping into the inspiration and ideas of all the families who come along! I'm guessing that we as parents will learn far more about living each of these values by watching our children in action than they will learn from us. :)
Deep gratitude to all the ripples that came before us that created the field for us to plant this seed here in London and to Nilakshi, the rock star local London Mom who I have the joy of collaborating with to host our first Kindful Kids Circle! It's such a blessing to have so much inspiration to draw from in every corner of this ecosystem.
And of course, please feel free to share on with friends/family here in London who might like to join in - we'd love to meet them at a Kindful Kids Circle some time!
