December 2018 - London Gatherings
What a gift to have Anne and Rajesh with us to share their beautiful film, Teach Me To Be WILD, at a couple of screenings and circles in London last week, which even included the most adorable service dog Apollo! Ani, Vicky and Shamash were busy planting seeds at a local school where they hosted the first Kindness Circle in London!
The new year brings us another incredibly inspiring guest from the US, internationally renowned filmmaker and photographer Phil Borges, who will be screening his latest documentary, CRAZYWISE, at our second Awakin Movie Circle (see below)! Awakin Movie Circle: CRAZYWISE - Tues. 8th Jan (Pimlico)
We are delighted to welcome internationally-renowned filmmaker and social documentary photographer,
Phil Borges, to our home in Pimlico early in the new year to screen and share about his film,
CRAZYWISE. Phil worked as a dentist until a deep love for photography lured him permanently away from the drill. He spent the next quarter of a century documenting the world's disappearing cultures. A journey that took him high into the remote mountains of Asia and deep into the forests of the Amazon. A journey that led him to join as a guest speaker at an Awakin Circle in Santa Clara, featured on
DailyGood and now brings him to our living room for an Awakin Movie Circle on January 8th during a visit to London!
"Crazy…or wise? The traditional wisdom of indigenous cultures often contradicts modern views about a mental health crisis. Is it a ‘calling’ to grow or just a ‘broken brain’? The documentary
CRAZYWISE explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience." Join us for the
Awakin Movie Circle on Tuesday, January 8th at 7pm, where we plan to gather after dinner to watch the documentary, hear about Phil's personal journey, have a circle of sharing reflections and questions and conclude with tea and light refreshments. [
