My 9-year-old Guru
As grown-ups, many of us have had the opportunity to witness children showing wisdom beyond their years as they say or do something really beautiful, insightful, and deeply inspiring. Intuitively, we know that there is so much we can learn from children, however in our day-to-day interactions, we often get swept away by our family routines, getting the kids to school on time, ensuring the family is eating healthy and supporting the children in their activities and school work. In the midst of our busyness, we can easily overlook beautifully simple moments and let them pass us by without any notice. Tapping into children's wisdom requires us to be fully present when we are together, as this enables us to connect and open our hearts to the profound lessons that they share so effortlessly, simply by being kids.
This week we offer you a personal story shared by a mother who is part of our Cubs Community, Sujatha Baliga, about an enlightening conversation she had with her 9-year-old son, Sathya, while on a family bike ride. Sujatha could have easily missed this opportunity had she not been so mindful during their conversation, but thankfully, she didn't, and what follows is a beautiful lesson on being present to life as it unfolds.
